'ADAPT.LOCAL' network holds seminar in Amarante to discuss climate

The Network of Municipalities for Local Adaptation to Climate Change (adapt.local) will hold, on March 18, 2022, the 5th Annual Seminar adapt.local.21 in Amarante, at Casa da Calçada.

This seminar will have the active presence of several national and international experts in adaptation to climate change, who, together with local authorities and technicians from all over the country, will address a wide range of very current key themes, such as: Challenges of the local climate adaptation, in Portugal and Europe; Sectoral climate adaptation, in forest, water and coastal areas; ‘climate adaptation’ mission; and, Future initiatives for adaptation to climate change.

The opening of the seminar, at 10:15 am, will be the responsibility of the president of the Municipality of Amarante, José Luís Gaspar Jorge, and the president of the ‘adapt.local’ Network, Vítor Aleixo. Before the seminar, on the 17th, the Constitutive General Assembly of 'adapt.local' takes place, also in Amarante, which will be the first moment of the formalization of the 'adapt.local' Network as a non-profit private law association.

Established in 2017 the adapt.local Network has more than 30 associated City Councils, in addition to several public and private entities working in the area of climate and adaptation to climate change.
